Seeking Progressive Vegetarian-Friendly Co-Parent for Not-Yet-Adopted Child

City: Boulder

Greetings, I am a 47-year-old healthy woman seeking a co-parent of either gender, coupled or not, for an emotionally healthy preschool-age child not yet adopted. There is much press about adopted children having major emotional and attachment problems, but in reality it depends SO much on where you adopt from and how that child was cared for prior to the adoption. There are international locations where the children are very well cared for and do quite well upon coming home to their new permanent families.

I firmly believe that ALL children deserve a loving home. I also think it is important for adoptive parents to honestly assess what they have the resources to handle and plan accordingly.

I am looking for someone who would like to share parenting responsibilities (and joys!) with me in raising this child, perhaps a gay or lesbian couple or single, or a straight single parent who also feels they want to raise a child but don't have the resources to do it on their own. Opportunities for "stepparenting" my present children exist, but this is optional. (One is in middle school, the other in preschool.)

Must be open to multi-racial family, politically progressive, willing to consider raising our child vegetarian or vegequarian (vegetarian plus fish), and willing and able to parent through positive relationship to the child rather than currently popular mainstream techniques of power-over and manipulative "choices". (See the Alfie Kohn book "Unconditional Parenting" for a thorough discussion of what's wrong with currently popular child rearing methods and how to do it differently.)

Personally I have found nothing else in life more challenging or more rewarding than raising children. If you might like to join me on this fantastic journey, please email me at coparent.wanted@yahoo.com. Thank you!
