Here's some useful information contributed by a scientist who did experiments with sperm survival time:

Condoms, even the non-spermicidal ones and including the special condoms sold specifically for semen collection, shorten survival time of sperm up to 1/3.

Any plastic or rubber container used to hold sperm or semen for more than about 5 minutes should be soaked in boiling water for a few minutes to remove trace contaminants which reduce sperm survival time. Plastics and rubbers contain water soluble lubricants used in the manufacturing process which could be the problem.  Use washed glass jars for semen collection and wash plastic syringes.  Make sure everything is completely dry before you use them, those tiny male guys are fragile.
